Initial hypotheses, pending the autopsy results and according to sources close to the investigation who spoke to Europa Press, suggest that both the man and woman had ingested pills. The woman is believed to have died around midday, while the man died a few hours earlier. The same sources explained that the bodies of the man and woman were found in their respective bedrooms. The Civil Guard is investigating the discovery of the bodies of an 80-year-old woman and her 54-year-old son in a home in Portocolom, in the municipality of Felanitx, on Thursday. Early in the afternoon, a family member reported finding the bodies in a house on Grívia Street. The Civil Guard went to the scene and is investigating the incident. No signs of violence were found, and initial investigations point to suicide. In Spain, there are resources available to help those experiencing suicidal thoughts, such as the Suicide Prevention Helpline (717003717, in the Balearic Islands 971461112), the Ministry of Health's suicide prevention hotline (024), and 112, which has mental health professionals. The Suicide Prevention Helpline in the Balearic Islands is 971461112.

According to a statement released by the environmental group, the establishment occupies the entire six-meter-wide right-of-way that, by law, must remain clear within the public maritime-terrestrial domain.

Residents of Portocolom have once again demanded the removal of the concrete and asphalt road that crosses Arenal Gran and Arenal Petit beaches, arguing that this infrastructure prevents the natural recovery of the beach and the dune system. According to the residents, the asphalt causes rainwater to wash sand into the sea, covering and suffocating the Posidonia seagrass meadows, which are essential for generating and maintaining clean sand and water. The residents recall that the Felanitx City Council had approved a regeneration project for the green area using Next Generation funds, which envisioned replacing the road with a promenade with a wooden walkway. However, much of the project has not been completed: a concrete road has been left in place, occupying more than half of the beach and blocking the natural formation of the dunes and the vegetation typical of the dune system. According to sources from the Salvem Portocolom platform and residents consulted, the road is partially maintained to allow access to the beach and adjacent services, although alternatives exist. "They could move the beach bar to a nearby esplanade with more space and tables, without affecting the sand or the dune system. We're only asking that the road that crosses the sand be removed and that the beach be for everyone again," they explain. The residents also complain that the reforestation of the dune area has been done with pine trees, instead of the native vegetation that helps consolidate the dune and retain the sand. This, they say, worsens erosion and hinders the recovery of the beach as a public space. The platform has called on citizens to get involved and pressure the City Council to prioritize the general interest and environmental protection over private interests, such as those of the beach bar. They also demand that the road that crosses the beach be completely removed and that only service and goods vehicles be allowed to pass. Through their Instagram account, @salvemportocolom He showed images of the current state of the beach and the road, and insisted that recovering the sand, the dunes and the shade of the tamarind trees is fundamental to guaranteeing a quality public space and protecting the landscape and tourist value of Portocolom.

The organization pointed out that the area is a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC), citing the visual impact and size of the installation. "It's high time the Nautical Club fixed the gate to its floating dock during the tourist season, and not to the Customs Wharf year-round," the environmental group stated on social media. It's worth noting that the Portocolom boatyards and docks were declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) in the category of ethnological site in February of last year. This recognition highlights the historical and cultural value of these traditional structures, which are among the most representative examples of Mallorca's port architecture.

"All summer long, behind the restaurant in Arenal Grande, there's a small house, a fence, and a parked van that serve as a storage area," the organization points out. They also note that the establishment's owners store tables and chairs to bring out more when the 40 tables allowed under the concession are occupied. "This storage facility is not part of the concession and illegally occupies the dune area, within a public green space, with the complicit passivity of the City Council," they stated.
