Three other people were seriously injured, according to SAMU 061 (the emergency medical service). The accident occurred around 5:10 p.m. at kilometer 22 of the MA-1 highway, when a car and a van collided head-on for reasons under investigation by the Civil Guard. The victim, who was traveling in the back seat of the van, was in critical condition and died despite resuscitation attempts by paramedics, which lasted nearly half an hour. Emergency services stabilized the other three injured people, including the drivers of the two vehicles involved. Two were taken in serious condition to Son Espases University Hospital, while the third was taken to the Juaneda Clinic. A judicial delegation has traveled to the scene of the accident to proceed with the removal of the body, as well as cranes to remove the damaged vehicles and restore traffic flow.

Calvià will begin demolishing a hotel in Peguera and one in Magaluf this Friday

https://en.arabalears.cat/society/calvia-will-begin-demolishing-hotel-in-peguera-and-one-in-magaluf-this-friday_1_5552543.html

The demolition of the former Hotel Teix in Magaluf and the Hostal Colón in Peguera will begin this Friday, as part of the renewal of established tourist areas in Calvià. This was announced by the mayor of the municipality, Juan Antonio Amengual, this Wednesday at the World Travel Market in London during an event at the Balearic Islands stand. The mayor, the municipal government team, and the President of the Balearic Government, Marga Prohens, among other authorities, will attend the start of the demolitions. With this initiative, as highlighted by the City Council, Calvià is advancing in the regeneration process of established areas and gaining spaces that will be for public use. "With these demolitions, we are fully entering the renewal of established areas of the municipality; these are the first demolitions carried out in Calvià in the 21st century," said Amengual, who explained that the objective is to recover land for public use. The purchase of the Hotel Teix in Magaluf was formalized by the Calvià Town Council on March 20th, following a private purchase agreement reached with its former owners at the beginning of February. The acquisition of the property, which had been closed for years, was financed with funds provided by the European Union's Next Generation Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, managed through the Government. This demolition follows that of the former Hostal Colón in Peguera, also acquired by the Town Council under the same conditions. Thus, the total investment allocated to the purchase and demolition of both establishments amounts to approximately 6 million euros. For the Town Council, the demolition is not only an urban planning operation, but also a "declaration of principles" regarding "commitment to a more people-friendly, livable, and sustainable city model, where the land serves the people, and not the other way around."
