Despite the improvement, the gender gap remains significant: the dropout rate among boys reaches 23.02%, while among girls it stands at 7.46%. The data confirms a downward trend after years in which the Balearic Islands led the country in this indicator.

The rate now stands at around 15.2%, still a high figure, but clearly lower than in recent years, when the archipelago consistently led this indicator (20.14% in 2024). This improvement marks the beginning of a downward trend following the increase recorded in previous years, as previous reports on the evolution of the Balearic education system had already indicated. Despite remaining above the national average, the Islands have been overtaken by regions such as Murcia, which has once again taken first place with a dropout rate of over 20%, placing them in an intermediate range among the autonomous communities.

Minister Antoni Vera announced this measure on Monday after chairing the meeting of the Son Gotleu Educational Plan committee for the 2025-2026 academic year. During the meeting, participants outlined the needs of the neighborhood's schools. Vera stated that the Ministry will increase support for schools in the area and that, starting this 2025-2026 academic year, psychological support will be strengthened with the addition of more general health psychologists to the public secondary schools. The main objective is to reduce school dropout rates. Additionally, the intervention of staff from the Comprehensive School Safety Plan (PISE) will be expanded at the Joan Capó and Es Pont schools to address current needs. The meeting also addressed the neighborhood's issues of coexistence. The regional minister insisted that the priority is to guarantee safe educational spaces both inside and outside of schools.
