‘I wish I had the security of a straight white man’ is a phrase we’ve adopted in my group, and one we say more often than we’d like. We’re mostly gays and girls and we don’t have that many straight white male friends. Perhaps because of that, because we’re not used to it, we can quickly distinguish the overconfidence of some of them. They are gestures with which they show that the world loves them unconditionally, that they always land on their feet, that they don’t have to ask for permission or forgiveness, that they don’t have to question anything. It’s doing things without having thought about it at all, advice they assume you need, a comment or an unfinished sentence with which they expect you to make the effort to understand them, instead of them making the effort to explain themselves. It’s a feeling of impunity and immunity that is frightening. It’s audacity, in short. And I love them all the same, though, because they are my friends.

I never thought it would happen, but this year I've become a Barça fan (and a big one!). I've followed them all season and celebrated the League title like any other culer. At home, everyone had to watch the Super Cup and Champions League matches. I even dragged a friend to Barcelona to watch the last League match. It was the first time – and also the last – that we were able to see Alexia Putellas play for Barça and, even though the League was already more than won, the blaugranes played a very good match. I don't want to detract from Hansi Flick's team in any way, but the ones who, at 24 years old, have made me a Barça follower are Cata, Patri, Mapi, Pina, Kika, and Alexia. For me, and for many others, 'Barça' is the Women's team, without the adjective, by default; it's the unmarked form, even if it goes against the norm.

National Police officers in Palma have arrested a man for allegedly brutally assaulting his partner. According to the police, when officers arrived, the woman had so many injuries that she could barely breathe due to the amount of blood in her mouth. The incident occurred early Sunday morning when the 091 emergency line received a call reporting that a man and a woman were arguing on the stairs of a building. Upon arrival, patrol officers saw a large amount of blood on the landing floor of one of the apartments and, next to it, a woman with a bloody face and the alleged assailant. Beside her, on the floor, was a broken glass bottle, which he allegedly used to hit her.

Mobile phone monitoring, live location sharing, prohibitions on boyfriends having female friends (or girlfriends having male friends), and clothing supervision "for not being provocative." These are dynamics that have spread among many young people and that break with the progress of recent decades in the way romantic relationships are understood. Newer generations are, in many ways, more conservative than previous ones, a step backward that educational institutions are trying to address and combat, despite the power of the messages they receive outside the classroom.
