This figure represents a 66% increase compared to 2021 and 2022, and is particularly concerning for a neighborhood like Pere Garau. In response, the Socialists have announced they will demand an internal investigation to clarify the criteria and scope of this practice.

The measure, approved by all municipal groups except Vox, has provoked a barrage of criticism from the opposition, who consider it belated, timid, and rather unambitious. Essentially, the specific amendment to the 2023 General Plan sets a ceiling of 4,473 Tourist Accommodation Units (ETH) and prevents this number from increasing, with the intention of gradually reducing it as units become permanently vacated. The reality, according to opposition sources, is that the measure only affects 2% of the units.

The PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) in Palma criticized the "absolute paralysis" of the parking plan presented by the City Council's governing team in the summer of 2024, which, they asserted, "has been completely ignored." Two and a half years later, "citizens are still waiting for projects that are nothing more than empty promises," lamented Xisco Dalmau, deputy spokesperson for the PSOE in Palma. For Dalmau, the municipal government's "paralysis" is "absolute." "They haven't lifted a finger. Enough with these grandiose promises that don't solve people's problems, like the purchase of Gesa and the fairgrounds, which nobody asked for," he maintained. In the summer of 2024, the City Council presented a parking plan that included infrastructure in different neighborhoods of Palma, and in July 2025, the contract to conduct studies for these new parking facilities was awarded. However, for Dalmau, it is "a phantom plan without a budget or financial commitment." He also pointed out that the aforementioned plan "violates" the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), developed in collaboration with citizen groups and still in effect. The SUMP, he said, anticipates and prioritizes parking facilities "that are indeed necessary" and that must be implemented "immediately." These include the parking facilities at Plaça del Progrés, Plaça Arquitecto Bennàssar, and Plaça del Médico Josep Darder, among others. "This negligence is yet another example of the abandonment of our neighborhoods," the Socialist representative stated. He thus demanded that the municipal government "think of the citizens and not the speculators" and that they "invest, put the works out to tender, and immediately comply with what is stipulated in the City Council's current Mobility Plan." However, the Socialist Party has asked the mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, to "get to work" and implement some "much-needed" parking facilities.

According to the list of stalls submitted by the organizers to the Palma City Council, which ARA Baleares has obtained, 45 of the 61 stalls are registered to just two businessmen from Germany and Austria. Months before the event, these two men formed a limited company to manage markets. Gerald Kendlbacher, who has gained media attention as a collaborator in organizing the market, controls 29 stalls. This past February, he founded the company dedicated to organizing "events, fairs, concerts, and markets," according to the commercial registry.

Despite this change, Pastor will remain a councilor and will continue to attend City Council plenary sessions. She will now combine her political activism with her professional activity as a lawyer. This decision marks a shift in her political career after several terms in positions of significant responsibility and coincides with a reorganization of the party structure in Palma. In fact, the change coincides with an internal restructuring of the PSOE in Palma, following the appointment of Yago Negueruela as general secretary of the local Socialist group.
