Antoni Salas will leave the mayoralty of Costitx after 20 years at the head of the City Council. The mayor has registered his resignation and the decision will be ratified next Friday in an extraordinary plenary session called at 7 p.m. Salas will also cease to be a councilor of the City Council.

This past week marked the first 100 days of the Popular Party's mayorship in Porreres in the 21st century. Maria Agnès Sampol Sabater (Porreres, 1986) took the reins of command after the government pact signed with El Pi of Xisca Mora. Sampol was the first time she ran as the head of the list; before, she had been number 3 in the 2015 elections, and number 2 in the 2019 elections. Now, 100 days after taking office, we speak with her about her experience and the challenges Porreres faces ahead.

Last Tuesday, the local branch of the People's Party (PP) in Manacor met to open the nomination period for party president. Councilman Mateu Fullana, the most recent addition to the party after Bernadí Bou's departure, submitted the only candidacy. Now, local members will elect the board members, and the president will assign their responsibilities. The board members will ultimately choose the mayoral candidate for 2027, who does not necessarily have to be a board member. The party believes a new aesthetic and political direction must be defined, and has already begun to regenerate its local structure with figures who can appeal to young voters.

The plenary hall of the Montuïri Town Hall was too small to accommodate all the people who wanted to attend the inauguration of Toni Miralles NiellChocolatier as the new mayor of Montuïri. He has done so in compliance with the governing pact with MÉS per Montuïri, which gives the mayorship to the socialists until the end of this term and 42 years and one month after the last PSIB-PSOE mayor took office.
