These dogs were rescued during an operation on February 24th at a property in Palma, where they were found in very poor condition. The operation was carried out by officers from the Seprona (Nature Protection Service of the Civil Guard), the Guardia Civil (Civil Guard), and technicians from the Ministry of Agriculture, who discovered numerous irregularities and a situation incompatible with animal welfare regulations, the Palma City Council reported. Between February 25th and 26th, municipal veterinary services transferred the animals to the Son Reus facilities, where all the dogs were assessed. They were treated for internal and external parasites, vaccinated, microchipped, cleaned, and underwent various diagnostic tests, including a rapid test for leishmaniasis and complete blood work in those cases exhibiting clinical symptoms. The animals requiring more intensive monitoring were admitted under veterinary supervision, while the rest were placed in the Son Reus center after a favorable clinical evolution was confirmed. Cort specified that the 50 dogs are currently in optimal condition and that, starting this Wednesday, they were made available to the public for responsible adoption, after having been exposed to a situation of "extreme vulnerability."

They also want a Merry Christmas," Palma City Council launched a campaign on Monday aimed at encouraging the adoption of animals, primarily dogs and cats, currently housed at the Son Reus Municipal Animal Protection Center (CSMPA). The campaign has generated some controversy. The Más per Palma party believes it "promotes impulsive adoptions" and "perpetuates the idea that animals are Christmas gifts."
