The Mallorca Firefighters carried out three rescues of hikers and trekkers at different points on the island this weekend. Among the interventions, the rescue of four young people who ran out of water and strength while hiking a route through Puig Tomir, in the municipality of Escorca, stands out.

The Mallorca Firefighters had to intervene in three rescue operations in the Serra de Tramuntana between Friday and Saturday, after five people —three adults and two children— were injured or got lost during excursions.

Firefighters in Mallorca evacuated a hiker by helicopter on Wednesday from Mount Sant Martí in Alcúdia, and an 85-year-old man with an ankle injury in Banyalbufar.

The Civil Guard, in coordination with Maritime Rescue, has recovered two bodies in waters near Cabrera. In a press release, the Civil Guard reported that the incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, December 18th, when the Underwater Activities Group (GEAS) of the Civil Guard and Maritime Rescue were activated after receiving two reports from Cabrera. Both bodies were recovered and are presumed to be those of migrants who died while attempting to reach the Balearic Islands. With these two bodies recovered, the total number of bodies recovered this year in waters near the Balearic Islands rises to 57, the Civil Guard concluded.
