The Song of the Sibyl, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2010, was once again the star of Christmas Eve in Mallorca. The song resonated this Tuesday during matins in more than 150 churches across the island, but it was in the Headquarters where an unprecedented event has taken place in its recent history: for the first time in decades, the Sibyl It has been performed by a child.

On the night of December 24th, as tradition dictates, numerous churches in Mallorca will celebrate Matins with the Song of the Sibyl as its central element. Year after year, this ceremony fills the churches with worshippers and curious onlookers eager to experience firsthand one of the most unique expressions of Balearic cultural heritage. The Song of the Sibyl was recognized in 2010 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. This piece of medieval origin, which symbolically announces the arrival of Judgment Day, continues to resonate on Christmas Eve in different parts of the island and keeps alive a tradition passed down from generation to generation.

The Mallorca Headquarters This Christmas, the town will experience an unprecedented event in its recent history: for the first time, the singing of the Sibyl At Matines, it will be performed by a child. Next December 24th, starting at 11 pm, 12-year-old Toni López Dezcallar will lend his voice to one of the oldest and most unique Christmas traditions on the island, declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
