This year's work calendar includes a total of 12 public holidays, nine of which will be observed throughout Spain. In addition to these 12 national holidays, each municipality sets two local holidays, for a total of 14. Specifically, in 2026, the following days will be national holidays: Thursday, January 1 (New Year's Eve), Tuesday, January 6 (Epiphany), Friday, April 3 (Good Friday), Friday, May 1 (Labor Day), Saturday, August 15 (All Saints' Day), Tuesday, December 8 (Immaculate Conception), and Friday, December 25 (Christmas Day). There are other common holidays that the autonomous communities can move to another day. This has been the case with Thursday, April 2 (Holy Thursday), which will be a public holiday throughout Spain except in Catalonia and the Valencian Community, but not with Tuesday, January 6, Epiphany, which all the autonomous communities have decided to keep. Among the powers granted to the autonomous communities is also the possibility of replacing the Monday following national holidays that fall on a Sunday with other traditional holidays, in addition to the option of celebrating Saint Joseph's Day (March 19) or Saint James' Day (July 25) in their respective territories. Thus, November 2 (the day after All Saints' Day) will be a public holiday in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castile-La Mancha, Castile and León, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, and Navarre. Likewise, December 7th (the day after Constitution Day) will be a public holiday in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, Cantabria, Castile and León, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, the Region of Murcia, La Rioja, and Melilla. In addition, the Balearic Islands will move their regional holiday (Balearic Islands Day) to Monday, March 2nd.
