According to data published this Tuesday by State Ports, a total of 36,300 cruise passengers arrived in the archipelago between January and February, 54.9% fewer than in the same period last year. In February alone, the Balearic ports received 16,208 cruise passengers, representing a 44% decrease compared to February 2025. Overall, passenger traffic also declined. Between January and February, 462,936 travelers passed through the islands' ports, 11.1% fewer than in the same period last year. Regarding freight transport, the Balearic Islands' ports of general interest handled 2.2 million tons in the first two months of the year, a 9.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2015.</p>]]></description>

      <title><![CDATA[The Balearic Islands received 16 million international tourists in 2025]]></title>

Palma Airport received 12,411,824 international travelers, a 2.4% increase. In December alone, 260,852 international passengers arrived in the Balearic Islands, a 6.1% increase; and at Son Sant Joan Airport, 244,080, a 5.4% increase. Of the total international tourists who flew to the Balearic Islands last year, the majority traveled on low-cost airlines, with 11,283,912 passengers, a 4.4% increase. They account for almost seven out of ten, or 69.9% of the total. In Palma, passengers arriving on airlines <em>low cost </em>There were 8,487,149 in 2025, a 4.3% increase, representing 68.4% of the total. In 2025, Madrid accounted for the largest number of passengers with 23.1% of arrivals, registering a 5.2% increase. The Valencian Community saw the highest year-on-year growth (11.4%), while the Balearic Islands registered the most moderate year-on-year increase (2.4%). In 2025, Spain received 111.7 million international passengers, registering a 5.9% increase compared to 2024. This represents approximately 6.2 million additional arrivals, with low-cost carriers accounting for 4.4 million of that increase. In December, the number of passengers arriving in Spain from international airports reached 7.7 million, a 6.8% increase compared to the same month in 2014. 57.9% chose low-cost carriers, representing an 8.1% increase, while the remaining 4% experienced a smaller increase of 5.1%. 85.4% of total passenger traffic originated in Europe, registering a 5.1% increase. Passengers from the Americas accounted for 8.8% of the traffic, and those from Asia for 2.7%, with increases of 5.4% and 18.6%, respectively. </p>]]></description>
