A sailboat less than three meters long, with no one on board and only a one-kilogram bag of salt as cargo. This is the challenge that will set sail from the Sant Antoni Nautical Club and could mark a before and after in maritime navigation. The project, christened Raig FNB, is the work of about twenty students from the Faculty of Nautical Studies of Barcelona at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.

An 18-meter sailboat caught fire this Thursday at the Arenal Yacht Club. According to information provided by the Mallorca Fire Department, the fire broke out at approximately 1:50 a.m. and resulted in no injuries. Initially, the Llucmajor fire station was mobilized, along with personnel from the Palma Fire Department, the Playa de Palma station, and the on-duty sergeant. Later, due to the intensity of the fire, the Calvià fire station was also activated, and the Palma crews were reinforced. The on-duty technician was also activated. The fire spread rapidly throughout the vessel, which hampered firefighting efforts. Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, along with the collaboration of the yacht club staff and several sailors, the other boats moored in the area were protected, preventing further damage. The firefighting efforts lasted for several hours, with the fire under control but still active until approximately 6:00 AM. Crews continued working until 7:00 AM, at which point, with the situation now under control, the gradual withdrawal of firefighters from the various stations began. The fire was completely extinguished, and there were no injuries.
