Pau Arbona (Palma, 1986) is the director of the Parador d’Eivissa, the first to be built in the Balearic Islands and the 99th in the extensive network that makes up Paradors Nacionals. Surely, no parador has had such a tortuous history, from its construction decision in 2004 to its opening this March. During construction, the past of the dead and the projects of the living have clashed on more than one occasion: beneath the current building lies the long history of the city of Eivissa, since the first Phoenicians founded Ibosim about 2,600 years ago. Now, some of the archaeological remains found are on display and can be visited freely. Before receiving the commission to launch the Eivissa parador, Arbona has worked at the paradors of Benicarló, la Seu d’Urgell, and Plasència. Besides being a hotelier, he is a musician: a violinist and a specialist in traditional Balearic instruments. He is sure he will be able to fine-tune the Parador's operation until it is welcomed by both tourists and residents.

There are two eternal things in the world: Rome and the Ibiza bus stop. The decision to build a bus stop in Dalt Vila was announced in 2004, the first stone was laid in 2008, work was halted in 2012 because archaeological remains were found – how? In Dalt Vila? Unbelievable! – the project was redone and resumed in 2019, and finally – 22 years and 47 million euros later – it will be inaugurated on Monday, February 23, 2026.

The Parador de Eivissa was officially inaugurated this Monday in Dalt Vila and will open its doors to the first customers on March 10, after a total investment of almost 47 million euros and more than two decades of procedures and works.

The Parador de Eivissa will open on February 23, as announced at Fitur this Friday by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, who noted that an investment of 43.2 million euros has been made. The Ministry of Industry and Tourism indicated that this project has involved one of the largest archaeological excavations in recent years in Spain and the restoration of the historical heritage of Dalt Vila. Sánchez announced that reservations will open on the Paradors website next Monday, January 26, so that the first guests can stay at the hotel starting March 10.
