A maintenance technician suffered a workplace accident on the UIB campus this Tuesday. According to the university, the incident occurred when the worker, who was hanging from a banner on a balcony of the Anselm Turmeda building, fell and the metal walkway he was on collapsed. SAMU ambulances arrived at the scene and the man was stabilized by paramedics before being taken to a hospital. His current condition is unknown. The UIB has expressed its hope for his speedy recovery. The worker was taken to Son Espases Hospital, where he remains in stable condition in the emergency room with several fractures.
