The Prime Minister, Marga Prohens, has accused the Damm Group of deceiving the Administration and livestock farmers with the closure of the Agama factory in PalmaA leading figure in Mallorca's dairy industry. Furthermore, during the plenary session of the Balearic Islands Parliament, it was announced that the Government will revoke the declaration of regional interest which the multinational had requested and will demand the return ofa grant of more than one million euros"We will stand with the sector and support its initiatives to guarantee the continuity of the dairy industry," the president stressed.

There was a time when one of the most common criticisms in the cultural sector was that many people "lived off subsidies." Having moved beyond that debate and once it was understood and accepted that the cultural sector, like agriculture or industry, needs public investment, numerous grants from various institutions have been consolidated in the Balearic Islands over the last decade. And while these have contributed to the professionalization of the sector, the debates surrounding their operation and the resulting cultural fabric are quite diverse: from the transformation of many creators into managers, to the design of cultural programs and activities based on grant requirements, among others. Broadly speaking, Balearic institutions offer two types of cultural grants: competitive grants, where receiving the aid depends on meeting a series of requirements and which several cultural agents can apply for, and designated grants, which are awarded to specific agents based on their merits. In both cases there have been significant changes in recent years, especially noticeable with regard to the latter, the designated grants.

Damm will have to return 1.1 million euros to the Government of the subsidy it received within the framework of the transformation of the primary sector, after announcing the closure of the Agama factory in Palma and to fail to comply with the established regulations. This is provided that the file opened by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment confirms what is already evident: the conditions established in the terms and conditions have not been met, since these require maintaining the activity for five years from the date the public aid is received.
