The Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts will strengthen the staff of the Institute of Legal Medicine of the Balearic Islands with 13 more professionals. This was reported by the Ministry weeks after ARA Balears published the situation of work overload suffered by the IML due to the increase in work and the lack of professionals. Ministry sources have reported that the IML will also be provided with 20 psychologists, social workers and educators, and autopsy technicians from four other autonomous communities.

Work overload and understaffing continue to strain the operations of the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF) of the Balearic Islands, which has been plagued by structural problems for years regarding human resources, infrastructure, and technical equipment.

The forensic doctor Marisa Ariño provisionally replaces Consuelo Pérez in the position, who has led the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) for 11 years. Pérez had directed the organization until the Ministry of Justice dismissed her in April. Soon, the competent Ministry will announce the position for free designation, to which any forensic doctor in the State with a minimum of five years of seniority may apply.
