An archaeological research team will resume excavations this October at the Son Sunyer necropolis, in Pil·larí, with the aim of discovering what is hidden in the tombs from about 3,500 years ago. Researchers will search for burial remains that have been preserved without alterations, a finding that would allow, for the first time, the study of a Majorcan hypogeum using scientific methodology.

The archaeological excavations searching in Soria for the remains of James IV of Majorca are entering the final stretch without having located, for the moment, the monarch's tomb, the lid, or any element that allows a direct connection to be established.

Just as it marks 51 years since the first excavations that changed the archaeological history of Montuïri, and beyond the town of Es Pla, forever (as Vicenç Lull explained in this interview), the Son Fornés site is back in the news. This September, the team of archaeologists from the Son Fornés archaeological museum has focused their efforts on the enclosure located just behind the estate houses. A site, halfway between the Sabor talaiots and the large talayots already known on the estate. There, what was initially known as the "new" talayot has begun to reveal its best-kept secrets. For now, neither large stones, nor round.

Almost 650 years after his death, a team of historians and archaeologists will return to search in Soria for the remains of James IV of Majorca, the prince who inherited the rights to the Majorcan Crown but never managed to recover the kingdom. The campaign, which will last fifteen days, is supported by the Council of Majorca and the Balearic Government.
