A French group has bought Grupo Servera, one of the main food distributors for the Horeca channel in the Balearic Islands, in an operation that represents a new move within the progressive entry of foreign capital into the island's business fabric. The purchase has already been officialized and the most important part of the agreement, as explained by the president and founder of the entity, Tolo Servera, to ARA Balears, is that "nothing will change". In fact, as he detailed, the purchase involves clients, employees, machinery, brands and everything that makes up the company. "We were clear that we didn't want to sell it to an investment fund that would speculate with jobs, we wanted to continue with the company, and that's why we sold it to a group from the same sector," he explained.

Two people died this Thursday early in the morning in a fire that broke out at 5.23 am in a residential building in Magaluf, in the Mallorcan municipality of Calvià, where several people were also injured. The Civil Guard reported that the deceased are a 58-year-old man of Argentine nationality and a woman who has not yet been identified. They also added that they did not live together, but were in different homes at the time of the fire.

The Palma City Council has evicted the old Palma prison after a court authorized its execution due to the high risk that, according to various technical reports, the state of the property represents for the people who still reside there. The operation, coordinated between the Local Police and the National Police, began at 12 noon and lasted for a large part of the day.
