The protest took place in front of the state government delegation, which the Police had secured by land and air: four National Police vans, a dozen officers and civil guards at the door monitored the demonstrators, in addition to the images captured by a helicopter and a drone that flew over the area during the two hours that the protest lasted, peaceful and civic at all times.

And, after the police charges of 26-J, the narrative of tourist saturation has been sidelined in the media by another debate much more comfortable for Marga Prohens' Government. It is important not to lose focus, because the president is one of the main people responsible for responding to the problems that the tourism model generates in the daily lives of the citizens of the Balearic Islands. The day after one of the most massive protests ever seen in the Islands, Prohens has not felt the need to face the situation, nor to give explanations about the lack of management, nor to confront her unfulfilled promises. The president has spoken about the charges, has demanded explanations from the Spanish government delegate, Alfonso Rodríguez, and has remarked that she respects the right to demonstrate, as if that were not a given.

The event will include the lighting of candles in remembrance of political prisoners and the disappeared. As the organization noted in a statement, December 25th marks the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the occupation of Western Sahara. Musicantes, Cor de Cambra, the Orfeó Ramon Llull, and CAUOM will participate in the rally. The event will serve to denounce the forced disappearances, repression, human rights violations in the territory, and the imprisonment of Sahrawis fighting for their freedom. The association points out that there are currently 39 Sahrawi political prisoners serving life sentences or 30- and 25-year terms in Moroccan prisons, under conditions they describe as inhumane. "Each candle we light will be a light against the silence, a cry against impunity, and a tribute to all the victims," the statement affirms. The Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People of the Balearic Islands reiterates its demand for the holding of the self-determination referendum promised to the Sahrawi people and recalls "the political, legal, and moral obligation" of Spain as the administering power of the territory. "This Christmas, we join in their pain, their hope, and their struggle," the organization concludes.

They also criticize the fact that it leads to increasingly shorter seasons, designed for tourists rather than residents.

A worker on the ARA Baleares plane shows off her body "covered in flea bites." In fact, at the workers' demonstration this Friday protesting working conditions, the secretary of the UGT (Union of Workers' Union) for the air sector in the Balearic Islands, José Negreira, denounced that "there's everything in the baggage claim area." "We have workers with many bites all over the place. It's shameful," he reiterated. Along the same lines, he added that passengers, "when they board, they see fireflies running around." "The airport is the gateway for tourism to the Islands. We're the first face they see, and the service isn't very good," he insisted.

Balearic Islands Minister José Negreira warned that "if the government and Aena do not contact the workers within a week," he announced that they will bring out a hundred cars they have already prepared and begin circling the roundabout with the goal of ensuring that "no one gets through." handling They protested at the airport over the contracts with companies paid by Aena. "They give them 10-hour contracts, and as the season progresses, they increase them and they add a lot of overtime," explained José García, secretary of the Federation of Services, Mobility and Transport of the UGT (General Workers' Union), . "They treat the permanent, discontinuous workers as if they were temporary staff," the workers denounced.
