PalmThe unions CSIF, SPPME, UGT, and CCOO have announced a series of protests, the first of which will take place on January 29 at 10:00 a.m. in Plaça de Cort, to demand the implementation of the Police Force Reorganization Plan, which was scheduled for January 1. "Not only has the agreed-upon commitment not been honored, but we are also watching with growing concern as no one takes any action, and we will likely face another term in office like this. We feel as though they are playing games with us and laughing in our faces," the organizations stated in a joint press release.

The unions have reiterated that they have been actively demanding the modernization of the Palma Local Police's organizational structure for "a long time." According to the organizations, the current model is outdated and fails to provide the quality service that the capital of the Canary Islands deserves. They believe the only way to modernize is through a comprehensive plan tailored to Palma's needs. They recalled that the City Council had promised the public, the unions, and the police force that the plan would be implemented by January 1, 2026. However, they lamented that this commitment was not honored. Therefore, the unions signing the statement say enough is enough. Furthermore, they announced that until the plan is implemented, there will be demonstrations, protests at Mayor Jaime Martínez's events and council meetings, and other actions. "This will be our way of showing that we are fed up," they declared.

According to sources, the strike in Cort on January 29th will be "the first of many" until the reorganization plan and salary adjustments are underway.
