The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Balearic Islands has agreed to file a complaint against the second vice-president of the Council of Mallorca, Pedro Bestard (Vox), following the complaint by the PSIB regarding the use of the island institution's official vehicles. The complaint, filed on July 2, indicated that Bestard had repeatedly used Council vehicles for private trips, with the fuel and other expenses that this entailed. The PSIB considers that the facts could constitute continuous embezzlement of public funds, perversion of justice, and document forgery.

No one doubts anymore that the general elections of November 29th have become a plebiscite: Sánchez yes or Sánchez no. The parties have organized themselves into blocs, have put aside their acronyms, and have accepted contradictions to maximize results. This logic is accentuated in the Balearic Islands, because there are only eight seats at stake in Congress and six senators by direct vote (two are chosen by the Parliament). The left has managed in recent weeks to articulate a joint candidacy for the upper house. In response, the PP and Vox have agreed for the first time on lists for the Senate. But the understanding on the right has made the territorial structures of both parties uncomfortable.

Political parties understand that the general elections on November 29th are above all a plebiscite. The polarization being experienced by society between those who are against Pedro Sánchez's policies and those who are either in favor of them or consider them the lesser evil, is the same polarization that will be reflected at the polls. Rather than a debate between projects, the campaign is framed as a struggle between two blocs aspiring to gather enough strength to govern.

The left of the PSOE in the Balearic Islands will run united in the general elections on November 29. Ara Més and Podem Illes Balears reached an agreement this Sunday to run together in the elections, after negotiations between the two groups ended without an understanding when the electoral coalition had to be registered. The pact finally allows for the incorporation of Podem into the candidacy, with Lucía Muñoz as number three on the list for Congress, in the capacity of an independent.

New controversy between the PSOE and the Palma City Council with the Cathedral of Mallorca as a backdrop. The socialists warned this Wednesday of the risk of collapse of the Cathedral's stairs and denounced that eight months have passed since cracks were detected without any action being taken. This same Wednesday, thePalma City Council has begun to carry out surveys to determine the state of the structure and decide what actions are necessary. The City Council asserts that recent technical reports rule out the danger of collapse.

Alfonso Rodríguez announced this Wednesday that he will leave his post as delegate of the Spanish government in the Balearic Islands to dedicate himself fully to preparing for the May 2027 elections and attempting to regain the mayoralty of Calvià. Rodríguez stated that this decision has nothing to do with the general elections on November 29, which "have crossed paths" with his decision, made since he announced he would run in the municipal elections.

The Balearic MEP Alícia Homs (PSOE) has demanded in the European Parliament that the European Union incorporate an insularity clause and systematically review its policies to take into account the needs of island territories. Homs has warned that the European strategy for islands runs the risk of remaining a simple diagnosis if it is not translated into concrete measures.

The justification memorandum for DORA III, the Airport Regulation Document that sets the investments, capacity, and rates for Aena airports between 2027 and 2031, states that the Balearic Islands requested more investments to be able to expand airport capacity. The Balearic Government has categorically denied this, insisted that this point "is false," and asserted that it only requested "safety improvements and modernizations." Thus, it has shared a letter sent by the executive to the Balearic Airport Coordination Committee in which it specified that the improvements it was requesting were "not linked to an increase in passengers".

The declassification of documents related to the Ceuta crisis by the Ministry of the Interior contains no report warning of a "high risk" of migrant arrivals in the Balearic Islands. Nevertheless, the PP has registered a written request in the Lower House demanding more data, and the Director General of Immigration, Manuel Pavón, has accused members of the Spanish government of "declassifying what interests them".

Over the weekend, "highest-level" calls were made to defend the bill for the airport co-management of the Islands. Finally, Urtasun has reached an agreement in the Council of Ministers with the Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, to withdraw this veto on the regulation.

The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, has shown "deep concern" after the head of the Spanish executive, Pedro Sánchez, claimed in the Congress of Deputies that he had a report that warned of a high risk of irregular migrant arrivals to the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. In an urgent appearance, Prohens has accused the socialist of having hidden this information when they met "for an hour" at the Consolat last July 29th. "Why is this information being hidden from us?", she asked herself. She has also demanded that the Spanish government state what measures it has taken to curb this risk of arrivals. "We want to think that the government of Spain has not left this report on a table or in a drawer", she continued: "We are talking about the safety of our autonomous community".

The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, has demanded explanations from Pedro Sánchez for having stated, during his appearance at the Congress of Deputies, that he received reports from the National Police regarding a risk of migrant arrivals on the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands.

The budgetary liquidation of 2025 has opened a new political confrontation in Pollença between the PP and the governing team. Both sides agree on one fact: the City Council has failed to comply with the spending rule and will have to draw up a financial economic plan. The disagreement, however, arises when interpreting the figures and the real seriousness of the situation.

The socialist municipal group of Alaró has denounced the alleged shortcomings in the security device during the Sant Roc festivities after the assault that occurred in the Plaça de la Vila, in front of the Town Hall and a few meters from the Local Police facilities, and in which a 16-year-old boy lost three teeth. The socialists have condemned the events and expressed their solidarity with the people who would have been assaulted. "Violence has no municipality, age, or justification," they point out, while defending that any violent behavior must be rejected "forcefully".

"It is clear that Spain has never done so well in its history, no matter how you look at it: 46.6 million international tourists in the first six months of the year and a record spending of 63.8 billion euros. So much noise and exaggeration so that you don't feel that we govern well and it benefits you". Apparently, the socialist Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, Félix Bolaños, has not been told that in places like the Balearic Islands people are not so happy and that 70,000 people took to the streets on July 26 to demand something as simple as it is difficult to achieve at this point: that the citizens of the Islands can live with dignity. I want to think that Bolaños understands the difference between GDP and GDP per capita, because this nuance will help him understand that the 63.8 billion euros left by visitors do not affect residents in tourist areas. Perhaps the satisfaction is because companies like Aena exceed their profits year after year by squeezing the doors of our home.

The mayor of Inca, Virgilio Moreno, spends some time walking the 59 meters that separate the City Hall from one of the bars in front. Every two steps he stops to talk to someone.
