A BASE jump from a prohibited area in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range has raised concerns among environmentalists in Mallorca. The video of the jump, circulated on social media, shows the activity taking place just meters from one of the few remaining active osprey nests, a species listed as vulnerable and currently beginning its breeding season. The Balearic Ornithological and Nature Defense Group (GOB) has filed a complaint with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Environment, requesting increased monitoring of sports and adventure activities in the Serra de Tramuntana to protect endangered wildlife. According to the statement, the jump was made from an exclusion zone designated by the Natural Resources Management Plan (PORN), which prohibits all recreational and sporting activities. The video, clearly identifiable, shows both the jumper and the person who retrieved them with a boat, as well as the name of the company that organized the activity. Environmentalists point out that the exclusion zone is precisely the area with the highest biological value or fragile natural elements, as established by the Law for the Conservation of Areas of Environmental Interest. The osprey has only 11 breeding pairs located in Mallorca last year, and any disturbance could seriously affect its reproductive success. The GOB (Balearic Ornithological Group) warns that the growth of adventure tourism and mountain sports can have negative impacts on species conservation and calls for responsibility from citizens and businesses. A hiker has made a seemingly exceptional archaeological find in the Tramuntana mountain range: a small bronze ox head that likely formed part of a smaller sculpture and could date to the final phase of the post-Talayotic culture. The piece, small but remarkably well-preserved, displays the characteristic features of an ox's snout and eyes—schematic, yet recognizable. According to archaeologists from the Almallutx group, who received and handed over the find this Monday to the Consell de Mallorca (Island Council of Mallorca), these types of representations typically have a ritual or symbolic character, related to strength and fertility. The small size of the piece suggests it may have been a decorative or cultic element within a larger ensemble, like the ox sculptures already known in the Balearic archaeological record. The post-Talayotic culture in Mallorca, which developed towards the end of the Bronze Age, is characterized by fortified settlements, metallurgical production, and elaborate ritual practices. Sculptures of oxen, such as this bronze head, reflect the symbolic importance of these animals, possibly linked to rituals of fertility, strength, and protection for the communities. Finds like this allow researchers to better understand the beliefs and daily life of the societies that inhabited the island more than 3,000 years ago, as well as their ability to create artistic and symbolic objects in metal. The Supreme Court (TS) has reduced the sentence of the perpetrator of one of the most virulent and destructive forest fires in the Balearic Islands, which occurred in July 2013 in the Serra de Tramuntana mountains and affected 2,347 hectares. The criminal chamber partially upheld the appeal filed by the defendant and decided to reduce his sentence from two and a half years to one year and nine months in prison for the crime of arson.

The future law of the Tramuntana mountain range The draft legislation, currently in the public consultation phase, will prioritize administrative simplification "to prevent protection from becoming an obstacle to land management" and will allow "the development of complementary activities compatible with conservation." This was announced by the island council's governing team at the presentation of the draft legislation on Wednesday. Google Arts & Culture is a free platform that unites heritage and technology and already offers content from more than 1,500 institutions in 70 countries, with millions of users worldwide. The Consortium plans to progressively expand the content to keep this digital space alive.

Firefighters in Mallorca rescued a 19-year-old man on Thursday who had become trapped while hiking on Peñón del Mediodía, the second highest peak in the Serra de Tramuntana mountain range. The hiker was caught off guard by the steepness and difficulty of the terrain and became stuck in a very inaccessible area. Unable to reach the ground, the air rescue operation was activated, with the Sa Milana helicopter transporting two rescuers to an area near the victim. From there, the rescue team was able to reach the young man and begin the rescue. Simultaneously, the helicopter picked up two more rescuers from the Sóller Fire Station, who joined the operation and assisted in bringing the hiker down to safety. The operation was successful, and the young man is in good health. This is the first operation of its kind carried out this year by the Sa Milana helicopter in the Tramuntana mountain range.

The law concerning the Tramuntana mountain range also has an urban planning aspect. The legislation being prepared by the People's Party (PP), which already has the support of Vox, will allow the legalization of irregular constructions in this emblematic area. The proposed law, which will reach Parliament in the next session, includes a series of articles that will regulate the procedures for illegal dwellings to benefit from a kind of amnesty, since they were unable to take advantage of the one already approved by the PP and Vox in the Chamber.

Images of advanced construction work in a wooded area of Son Massip, in Escorca, have alarmed hikers currently using the path that begins the ascent to the Voltes d'en Galileu. The recordings show a large area of recently excavated holm oak forest and the construction of a chalet of at least two stories on a street where, until now, there were only two old houses and no other urban development, according to eyewitnesses. According to witnesses, the work "devoured hundreds of square meters of forest" in an area far from the town center and close to an Area of Special Natural Interest (ANEI), raising suspicions that the construction may be illegal. "It's an abomination in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana," the hikers lamented.

The passage of the storm through the Balearic Islands this Saturday brought the most significant rainfall to the Tramuntana mountain range, as predicted by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), with 43.6 liters per square meter recorded in Lluc. It also caused three minor incidents involving fallen trees and rockfalls. Additional rainfall totals of 42.6 l/m² were recorded in Son Torrella, Escorca; 30 l/m² in the Alfabia mountain range, Bunyola; 25.4 l/m² in Banyalbufar; and 23 l/m² in Port de Sóller, according to data collected up to 7:30 p.m. As for the wind, the strongest gust reached 87 km/h in Alfabia, while 80 km/h was measured in Cabrera and 75 km/h in Capdepera.

The Consell de Mallorca (Mallorca Council) has approved the installation of 64 cameras and 20 sound level meters on the roads of the Tramuntana mountain range with the aim of preventing illegal racing and excessive noise.

The joint taxi service in the Bay of Palma and the Tramuntana Mountains is now in effect in eight municipalities as of this Friday, with the latest additions being Llucmajor and Deià.

The Sierra de Tramuntana Association (Mancomunidad de la Sierra de Tramuntana) has acquired three mobile sound level meters, which have already begun to be used to impose fines of up to €300,000 on vehicles exceeding 90 decibels. This measure, which will be applied only in urban areas—where the local councils have jurisdiction—aims to "raise awareness" so that residents of the Serra "can feel safe in their homes," explains the president of the Association, Bernat Isern.
