To reach this conclusion, it has been necessary to wait weeks, until the two reports commissioned by president Llorenç Galmés were completed. The first was carried out by the Technical Secretariat of the Department of Environment and states that Bestard still keeps three cars for his exclusive use, that he lied about their signage and that he has made unjustified use of them unrelated to his position, in addition to keeping them to the detriment of the needs of the officials in his area. The second report was carried out by the General Secretariat and the Council's Intervention, and it is precisely this one that indicates that it cannot be deduced that the use of the cars is improper. This document is limited to recommending that an instruction be issued to regulate the use of Council vehicles.

The first season of vehicle limitation application allowed for a reduction of approximately 32,000 in the number of vehicles that could circulate during the regulated period, according to data from the Pitiusan Council. It is not simple to find a word that is easy to remember, has an attractive sound, and can be pronounced in most of the world's languages, let alone make this word associated with the collective imagination of buyers. However, in recent years, several manufacturers have christened some of their models with names that are at least curious and fun, which will surely make you smile.

Bestard himself admitted last Thursday that he never kept a record of which car he took or the route he took. “I didn't know it had to be done”, he justified: “The staff themselves don't do it”. According to the testimony of four workers from the island institution [who requested anonymity], it is “known” that some public employees take advantage of a lack of exhaustive control of vehicles to use them in their private lives. They specify this in two areas: Environment (led by Bestard) and Roads (dependent on Territory). “Some don't even have their own car, they use the one from work”, explains one of them.

In October 2025, consumption reached 413,700 MWh, 7.9% more than the previous year, and the cumulative figure for January-November rose by 3.9%. This sustained trend shows that the Balearic Islands are unable to break free from an inertia based on shattering resource consumption records, even with the massive incorporation of self-consumption solar systems. The Islands face 2026 with the urgent need to revise their production and territorial model, because otherwise, the climate targets for 2030 and 2050 will be difficult to achieve.

Only a year and a half remains in his term, and just one peak tourist season before the 2026 elections. It is at this point that his flagship proposal, limiting vehicle access to Mallorca, could gain greater visibility if implemented. However, this possibility is being complicated by the veto of Vox, with whom, despite the split in the Balearic Parliament, he continues to govern the island institution. Sources within the institution insist that they are still negotiating with the other groups to bring their proposal to the Parliament, but this process seems to be slowing down. Even so, the People's Party (PP) is not yet open to accepting the Socialist Party's (PSIB) offer to jointly approve the bill with the same objective that the Socialists have registered in the Parliament.

Cars are encroaching on sidewalks, blocking pedestrian access. Peatones Mallorca (Pedestrians Mallorca) recently posted a video on Instagram showing the difficulties a mother with a stroller faces trying to walk her child in her neighborhood, located around Isidre Llaurador Street. With this footage, the organization denounces this "shameful" problem, which is repeated in other neighborhoods and towns, and argues that "there are too many cars and not enough planning."

He is the son of a family born from the love that arose from that firstboomtourist. On the one hand, linked to the hospitality industry and, on the other, to farming, to village life. Now, Jaume has been living in Sineu for more than twenty years, where he has promoted –along with other neighbors– the project 'Sined on bike and on foot',An initiative that aims to promote safer, healthier, and more sustainable mobility, especially for children. Bergas studied Geography and went on to study Agricultural Engineering. Now, however, he has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to improving mobility in Sineu, and perhaps even the rest of Mallorca. That's why he's pursuing a Master's degree in Sustainable Mobility. Thus, the initiative that began to facilitate his children's access to school has led him down a different path.

The recently presented study on the carrying capacity of Menorcan roads proposes only a 1.8% reduction in vehicle traffic compared to last year. This measure has almost no impact and clashes head-on with the study conducted by the left in 2023, shortly before losing the island's government, which estimated the excess number of cars on the road network in summer at 30%. Furthermore, the limitation will not begin to be applied until next summer, although Article 28 of the Biosphere Reserve Law has empowered Menorca to take measures in this regard for three years.
