When he was young, between 8 and 10 years old, he greatly enjoyed the horror book series Goosebumps, by R. L. Stine. As an adolescent, he listened on repeat to the album Californication, by Red Hot Chili Peppers. During the 2003 Copa del Rei final, which Mallorca won, cameras captured a boy running towards the players, dressed in white, with a microphone in his hand, trying to get the first statements amidst all the joy: “That boy was my brother,” says Manel Barjacoba, the younger brother of IB3 Radio director, Daniel Barjacoba (born in Binissalem), who is called Dani. Before all that, however, Sílvia arrived, the older sister, with whom Dani is practically one year apart: she is from 1985 and he is from 1986. Indeed: this year is Dani's 40th year. And Manel, the youngest of the three, who is seven years younger than the journalist, tells us about it.

Plataforma per la Llengua will file a lawsuit against the call to cover the position of Deputy Director of Information at IB3 because it considers that it violates current linguistic regulations by not setting any Catalan language knowledge requirement. The entity demands that the procedure be annulled and revert to the moment of the approval of the bases, with the objective that a new call be published that expressly incorporates the level of Catalan required to hold the position.

Among the requirements for the position of deputy director of news at the Public Entity of Radio and Television of the Balearic Islands (EPRTVIB) there is no specific degree in Journalism, nor is it necessary to prove knowledge of Catalan. "We could have a deputy director of news who does not understand them," he lamented. The eco-sovereignists have submitted several parliamentary questions asking the Government for explanations in this regard.

The cancellation of the quiz show Yo sé más que tú, the most-watched program on IB3, has generated an immediate reaction from the audience. From the moment the announcement was made public, social networks were filled with criticism, laments, and demands for explanations from the management of the public television of the Balearic Islands. One user has gone further and has started a petition to force the entity to bring back the program.

"The money is spent on nothing but the gay party." These statements, made by a resident of Inca in an interview, have prompted IB3 to open an internal investigation and apologize after the video with the homophobic comments spread on social media. According to the public broadcaster, it was production material that was not supposed to be broadcast at any time.

The Public Broadcasting Entity of the Balearic Islands (EPRTVIB) does not require a degree in Journalism to work. This is according to the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) of August 12, which states: detail the bases of the call for the selection of personnel for the creation of a pool of editors for the News Content Department at IB3, for temporary employment contracts in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.

When the government internalized 315 IB3 employees on February 1, 2023, it began a process that should have ended more than two years ago—the agency's total workforce is approximately 450. The government took on workers who came from different companies and had diverse working conditions, inequalities that have yet to be resolved because the workforce integration process has not been carried out.

Josep Codony's appointment as general manager of IB3 led to immediate changes, some of which received widespread public response. In response, the latter two enjoyed a historic following. Recently, Codony's team has also made decisions that have impacted the staff's daily routine. The wardrobe department received guidelines to adopt a more formal and modest wardrobe. An email obtained by ARA Baleares mentions giving a "more sober, elegant, and proper" image to news anchors, as well as avoiding "hairstyles and hairstyles that stray from formality."

The management of IB3 has eliminated the Catalan option for films premiering on the public channel. This was denounced by Obra Cultural Balear this Sunday, after the television station announced the premiere ofThe Master Gardener only in Spanish.

The IB3 works council has stated that it will fight to the bitter end for their rights and to resolve the conflict arising from the internalization of workers. Their news services were subcontracted for 18 years, suffering "all kinds of abuses," such as "minimal" wages, unpaid overtime, legal and illegal redundancy plans (EREs), and job instability "incompatible with the essential news service." In their opinion, they did so not "so much out of conviction" but because of the "certainty" that they would end up losing the pending lawsuits for illegal transfer of workers. Continuing with the account of the events, the committee explained that at that time there were 160 complaints from workers from different subcontracts about integrating workers as non-permanent, permanent staff. However, a Supreme Court ruling determined that any employee with a permanent contract before an internalization process must be permanent when the service is subcontracted.

The Balearic Islands Public Radio and Television (IB3) denounced the PSOE's veto of its correspondent in Madrid for covering the party's federal committee and warned that it will not accept "political interference." In a statement, the public broadcaster stated that "despite having processed the accreditation within the deadline and in a timely manner, the political party has denied access and the right to report to the IB3 team."
