Journalist Victoria Morell (Palma, 1986) was immersed in a documentary about prostitution when some experts began telling her about the influence of pornography on the sexual practices men requested. An influence that, they told her, was on the rise. "Women in prostitution explained that men would simply pull out their phones and ask for what they had seen," Morell recounts, "and from that point on, I wanted to understand what was happening."

Many of the changes the cultural sector in the Balearic Islands has undergone in the last 25 years can be summarized in one key point: the first steps have been taken toward the professionalization of its members. All the experts consulted agree that in the audiovisual, musical, literary, and theatrical fields, the first quarter of the 21st century has seen progress in the working conditions of those involved. These improvements are inextricably linked to certain public policies developed in this area—with the current catalog of available subsidies as a key component—which have led to the creation of jobs and training centers. They have also fostered a greater diversity of styles, themes, and genres explored by Balearic creators and, ultimately, greater recognition and connection with audiences, both local and international.

"The money is spent on nothing but the gay party." These statements, made by a resident of Inca in an interview, have prompted IB3 to open an internal investigation and apologize after the video with the homophobic comments spread on social media. According to the public broadcaster, it was production material that was not supposed to be broadcast at any time.

The Public Broadcasting Entity of the Balearic Islands (EPRTVIB) does not require a degree in Journalism to work. This is according to the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands (BOIB) of August 12, which states: detail the bases of the call for the selection of personnel for the creation of a pool of editors for the News Content Department at IB3, for temporary employment contracts in Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.

The management of IB3 has eliminated the Catalan option for films premiering on the public channel. This was denounced by Obra Cultural Balear this Sunday, after the television station announced the premiere ofThe Master Gardener only in Spanish.

The IB3 works council has stated that it will fight to the bitter end for their rights and to resolve the conflict arising from the internalization of workers. Their news services were subcontracted for 18 years, suffering "all kinds of abuses," such as "minimal" wages, unpaid overtime, legal and illegal redundancy plans (EREs), and job instability "incompatible with the essential news service." The Balearic Islands Public Radio and Television (IB3) denounced the PSOE's veto of its correspondent in Madrid for covering the party's federal committee and warned that it will not accept "political interference."
