The Canamunt and Canavall water fight has once again filled the streets of Palma with festivities. Two opposing groups and hundreds of participants armed with water pistols have recreated the ancient disputes, now transformed into a water-soaked spectacle in the Parc de la Mar.

The selection of board games in Catalan is limited, especially when it comes to products created in the Balearic Islands. In this context, Canamunt vs Canavall, a card game that playfully recreates the famous battle that pitted the two noble factions of Palma against each other during the 17th century. "We make games to enter into national competitions, but we wanted to make our own, from our region, and we looked for a powerful, local theme," says Marc Salas, the game's designer, who prepared the game with illustrator Víctor Trufer. Canamunt vs Canavall is mainly a party In this game, among other activities, residents from all over Palma join one of the sides and participate in a water pistol war, emulating the violence of centuries past.

More than 200 Palma residents gathered last Wednesday in the iconic Plaça d'en Coll to play tricks and dine together outdoors. The event, organized by the Canamunt residents' association and the Brunzit platform, began around 7:00 p.m. with a round of tricks, in which those familiar with the rules of the card game explained them to those who didn't.
