PalmaThe port of Palma hosted the Telefónica Innovation Day this Thursday, an event that gathered around 200 professionals from companies, public administrations, and startups to show how new technologies can transform the economic activity of the Balearic Islands. The company presented nearly 20 digital solutions applied to sectors such as tourism, industry, mobility, education, health, and security.

One of the automated control software programs that could be seen at the exhibition.

Among the solutions presented is Mission-Critical Dome, a technology to deploy a tactical 5G bubble with artificial intelligence and drones in critical operations in a matter of minutes. Also shown was C4T-P, a platform that centralizes information from local police in real time, such as agents, patrols, incidents, cameras, and radars, with the goal of optimizing resources and reducing response times.

Another novelty is Titan Connect, which integrates 5G, fiber, satellite, cloud services, and cybersecurity to maintain connectivity in the face of situations such as network outages, supply issues, and cyberattacks. The Quantum Telco proposal, for its part, brings together solutions based on quantum technologies applied to real environments.

300 pathologies

In the healthcare sector, the conference included Legit.Health, software that uses artificial intelligence to help professionals evaluate more than 300 skin conditions. Flame Analytics was also presented, a platform that analyzes the behavior of people in physical and digital spaces, as well as Factorial, a tool that allows small and medium-sized enterprises to centralize human resources processes, such as time tracking, vacations, and payroll.

The conference also served to announce the deployment of Telefónica's Edge Computing network, which plans for 17 nodes in Spain, one of which is in Palma. This technology allows data to be processed closer to where it is generated, which reduces latency and can accelerate the digitalization of companies and institutions.

The meeting, inaugurated by the First Vice President and Minister of Economy, Finance and Innovation of the Government, Antoni Costa, has focused on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data, the Internet of Things (IoT), 5G and cybersecurity. The day also included a round table on the role of data, AI and digital security in building a more resilient technological environment.

The Director of Large Accounts and Public Administrations of Telefónica in the East Territory, Jordi Giné, explained that “the Telefónica Innovation Day Palma is a clear example of Telefónica's challenge to be the best access route for citizens, companies and institutions to digital technologies, putting at their disposal the best solutions to accelerate theirs”.

Security

Among the practical cases presented is that of Meliá, which has maintained a technological alliance with Telefónica since 2016. The hotel chain, which has 37 establishments in the Balearic Islands, has driven the evolution of its global technological model, which serves more than 250 hotels. Among the applications incorporated are 5G connectivity and artificial intelligence to streamline attention and incident resolution and anticipate potential problems. As Meliá's CISO, María Baeza, explained, "a project of this scale can only grow if security is part of the model from the beginning." "In a hotel company, cybersecurity does not solely consist of protecting systems and data. We protect the continuity of the operation and, ultimately, the trust and experience of our clients," she remarked.

For his part, the IT director of Tirme, Alberto Pozuelo, has highlighted the importance of people's safety, the integration of IT and operational systems, and the resilience of waste treatment plants.
