PalmaThe vice president of the Mallorca Hotel Business Federation (FEHM), María José Aguiló, has stated that one can no longer speak on the island of "a season concentrated into four or five months," in a context where 20% of businesses remain open all year round. She stated this on Friday at a conference on tourism, where she pointed out that openings are progressively moving forward to February, March, and April.
Aguiló has pointed out that, after the years of the so-called "champagne effect", the market is entering a phase of greater stabilization, which forces companies to refine their commercial management and the monitoring of source markets much more. "We cannot build diagnoses based on feelings; we must work with data", especially when analyzing expenditure, prices, or demand behavior, he asserted.
Regarding prices, he has defended that their evolution has been accompanied by investment, transformation, and real improvement of the product, and has pointed to a certain stabilization as a good part of this repositioning process is completed.
