Dolors Miquel, Biel Mesquida, Empar Moliner and Laura Gost, protagonists of the Catalan Book Week in Palma

The 37th edition will take place from September 24th to 27th at the Misericòrdia gardens and will include about thirty participants, about twenty activities and, for the first time, a joint event with Barcelona Week

PalmaLiterature in Catalan will once again take over the Misericòrdia gardens in Palma from September 24 to 27 with the 37th edition of the Catalan Book Week. The event will bring together around thirty participants and twenty activities, featuring names such as Dolors Miquel, Biel Mesquida, Empar Moliner, and Laura Gost.

The opening ceremony will be on Thursday the 24th at 6:30 PM and will include an opening speech by Carles Rebassa and a concert by the Mallorcan group Nita.

Friday will be the turn of Dolors Miquel, who will present El pit adormit accompanied by the painter Miquel Barceló. The day will also include a recognition ceremony for Biel Mesquida, winner of the Honorary Award for Catalan Letters, hosted by Sebastià Perelló and with the participation of Kika Pol.

Saturday there will be presentations of Les conseqüències, by Pere Antoni Pons; Instruccions per viure sense ella, by Empar Moliner, and La vida no són matemàtiques, by Joan Miquel Oliver. Also to be presented is Llars, a work with multiple authors linked to the project The Shape of Dreams, with the collaboration of the UIB and the Berenguer d’Anoia Institute.

One of the highlight events on Sunday will be the recital Amb la mar enfront de la mirada. Blai Bonet a banda i banda de la Mediterrània, which for the first time will be held simultaneously with the Catalan Book Week in Barcelona. Participants in Palma will include Llucia Serra, Pau Sif, and Mireia Calafell, with the presentation by journalist Maria Antònia Serra.

The final day will also include the presentations of Vides exemplars, by Joan Melià, and Vestigis, by Lucia Pietrelli. The program will be completed with Laura Gost, who will present El preu de néixer, and De com era infant, by Rafel Ginard, in an act organized by the Fundació Mallorca Literària on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the author's death.

The Week will also maintain a children's program with storytellers and folk tale tellers, as well as activities with schools in Palma and the Apropa Cultura platform. The Council of Mallorca will also organize a duplicate Scrabble tournament from Thursday to Sunday.

Participating bookstores will be Quart Creixent, Llibreria Pròpia, Lila, Ínsula Literària, Drac Màgic, Ramon Llull, and Embat, in addition to the Lleonard Muntaner publishing house.

The Week will be open from Thursday the 24th to Sunday the 27th, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event is organized by the Mallorca Booksellers Guild, with the sponsorship of the Council of Mallorca and the collaboration of the Fundació Mallorca Literària.
