PalmaAfter a five-year hiatus, the PoésArt poetry festival will return to Artà this October with a new phase driven by the recently established PoésArt association. The project resumes activity with the aim of consolidating itself as a reference space for contemporary poetry and, in this tenth edition, will focus on Mallorcan poets.

The association is presided over and directed by the poet M. Antònia Massanet, with Estel Font as secretary and the former head of Libraries at the University of the Balearic Islands, Miquel Pastor, as treasurer. The new entity takes on the organization of the festival with the objective of giving continuity to an initiative that was interrupted five years ago.

Before the festival in October, PoésArt has organized two events to present the association that will also serve to start warming up. The first will take place this Sunday, August 2nd, at 8:00 PM at the Teatre d'Artà, with a recital starring poets Jaume C. Pons Alorda and Anna Gual.

The second event will be on Monday, August 11th, also at 8:00 PM, at the Es Blau des Nord hotel in Colonia de Sant Pere. On this occasion, the poet Laia Malo will present her latest poetry collection, Rum-rum, in a proposal that will combine poetic reading with the soundscapes of Jaume Reus.

These activities will serve as a prelude to the PoésArt festival, of which the tenth edition will be held this year on October 23rd and 24th. The event will celebrate poetic creation from Mallorca and will bring together various voices from the island in a program that will mark the return of one of the most unique poetry festivals on the Mallorcan cultural scene.
