The residents of Canamunt reclaim their neighborhood: cinema in the square, Olympics, and lots of bauxa.
Bar Rita will be screening 'El 47' on Tuesday, July 15th, as part of the Canamunt Self-Managed Festivals program.

PalmWith self-management as its banner, the Canamunt Neighborhood Association is once again reclaiming the neighborhood this summer with bauxa, cinema, outdoor dinners, and its own personal Olympics. The Canamunt Self-Managed Festivals (FAC) begin this Thursday, July 3, and will run until Saturday, July 19, with a program designed to recover the true function of its squares and streets as public spaces.
Precisely with the intention of spreading this care for common spaces, the neighbors have decided to kick off the festivities this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. with a balcony decorating workshop to spruce up the Plaza Quadrado. There, the following day, Friday, July 4th, starting at 8 pm, there will be an open-air dinner—with music and a raffle—to warm up before the 21st Flexas Bar Party, which will take place in Parc de la Mar also starting at 8 pm. The neighborhood will also have its own Gran Guateke Canamunter, hosted by DJ Hiperespacio & Space Cowboy, on Saturday, July 5th, starting at 10 pm, in Llorenç Bisbbal Square.
Cinema in the square: 'The Old Oak' and 'El 47'
One of the highlights of the program is the film series, which Bar Rita, located at number 13, Plaza Llorenç Bisbal, has been organizing for over ten years. It takes place on two consecutive Tuesdays. On Tuesday, July 8th, the film series will be shown: The Old Oak, by Ken Loach; and on Tuesday 15th, The 47, by Marcel Barrena. Before the screening, starting at 7:30 p.m., Els Emmentals will offer a concert to liven up the dinner. Bar Rita also has a special menu for this time of year, consisting of kefta burgers and trempó bread rolls.
With the aim of reclaiming the streets as a space for play, the Canamunt Neighborhood Association has prepared a gymkhana and an Olympics, both with prior registration via the QR code attached in PDF format. While the Canamuntera Gymkhana will take place on Monday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m., in Llorenç Bisbal Square, the 4th edition of the Canamuntades will be held in Quadrado Square on Friday, July 11, starting at 7:00 p.m. The program also includes activities for the little ones, such as the children's water games party, which will take place on Thursday, July 10, at 5:00 p.m., in Quadrado Square.
And since nothing says neighborhood and summer like outdoor dinners, the neighbors have teamed up with the Zumbido collective to organize Dinners at the Rebanada, inviting everyone to bring food to share. The first will take place on Wednesday, July 9, with a game of truco and a screening of the documentary "Terramotourism"; and the second, on Wednesday, July 16. Finally, to close out the festivities, the Canamunt Association suggests leaving the neighborhood, and even Palma, for a visit to the Toni Catany International Center. A guided tour of the "Christer Strömholm" exhibition is planned for Saturday, July 19, and is accessible only by prior registration at projecteconnectacultura@gmail.com.
