1,500 UIB graduates will celebrate their graduation ceremony at Son Moix stadium

PalmaApproximately 1,500 undergraduate students from the University of the Balearic Islands will participate in the joint graduation ceremony that will take place on July 9 at the Son Moix stadium in Palma. Registrations are still open, so the final number of participants may vary slightly.

Students completing their studies at the Polytechnic School and the faculties of Science, Law, Education, Economics and Business, Philosophy and Letters, Nursing and Physiotherapy, Psychology, and Tourism are invited to the ceremony. The event aims to bring together the university's different centers in a single celebration event.

The ceremony will be presided over by the rector of the UIB and will include members of the Management Council, the deans of the different centers, and the director of the Polytechnic School, as well as representatives from the Social Council of the university and the Balearic Government. The ceremony is conceived as an institutional recognition of the effort and trajectory of the students who are closing a chapter.

Pending remodeling

The change of location is motivated by the renovation works being carried out at the School of Hospitality of the Balearic Islands (EHIB), until now the usual venue for graduation ceremonies. These actions, promoted by the Government and financed with European funds, require the work to be carried out during the non-teaching period and within strict deadlines, which has made it impossible to maintain the usual schedule.

Given this situation, the university has worked with the centers involved to find an alternative that would allow the celebration to be maintained. Finally, it has been decided to organize a single joint event at Son Moix, which will take place at eight in the evening. As for the campuses of Menorca and Ibiza and Formentera, the UIB will maintain the usual format for graduations, which will be moved to September 2026.
