PalmaThe 2027 Balearic Islands teaching competitive examinations will begin on April 17th. The Ministry of Education has announced the date six months in advance and will offer a total of 474 positions across different teaching bodies. The goal is for candidates to know when they will be examined well in advance and to facilitate the organization of the islands' educational centers. The Minister of Education, Antoni Vera, has highlighted that advancing the calendar will allow for streamlining the administrative procedures prior to the start of the school year. "The candidates already know when the exam will be," he noted.
Of the total number of positions, 275 will be for secondary school teachers and 141 for primary school teachers. In addition, 45 positions will be announced for specialist teachers in singular vocational training sectors, three for Official Language Schools (EOI) teachers, nine for music and performing arts teachers, and one for visual arts and design teachers.
Ibiza concentrates 240 positions
Regarding the territorial distribution, Ibiza will concentrate 240 places, followed by Mallorca, with 134; Menorca, with 50, and Formentera, with 33. Vera has highlighted the effort being made in the Pityusic Islands and Menorca. As he explained, in these islands the number of places is doubled compared to previous competitive examinations. Ibiza is the territory with the most places announced, with 240 out of the total of 474.
Advancing the competitive examinations should allow for the results to be available sooner and streamline subsequent procedures, such as provisional assignments, service commissions, internships for interim civil servants, and the filling of vacancies. “With this scheduling, we provide certainty to education professionals,” defended the minister. As he indicated, knowing the calendar in advance also facilitates the planning of teachers and the organization of educational centers. After informing the trade union organizations, the Ministry is now preparing the resolution of the call, in which the places and the tribunals that will be in charge of the selection processes will be specified.
