Several minors identified for homophobic attack on Andratx teacher
The Civil Guard has tracked offensive messages and images published on Classroom; and the case is in the hands of the Public Prosecutor's Office for Minors
The Civil Guard has identified several minors who would allegedly be behind thehomophobic attack on a teacher from IES Baltasar Porcel in Andratx (Mallorca). The agents, following up on the two complaints they received, one from the victim and another from the management of the educational center, opened an investigation to clarify the facts. They have tracked a series of messages and photographs that were published on the digital educational platform 'Classroom', many of them directed at the teacher and mocking his sexual orientation, until they identified the suspects. Sources close to the investigation have confirmed to Europa Press that several minors have been identified, although they have not detailed how many or if they are students at the institute where the victim works. The proceedings have been left in the hands of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, which will be responsible for taking statements from the suspects and deciding how to proceed with the case. The Department of Educational Inspection of the Ministry of Education and Universities has activated the corresponding protocols. On Monday, an inspector already went to the educational center to assess the situation.Obscene photographs on 'Classroom'
The reported events date back to Sunday, March 22, when some students from IES Baltasar Porcel provided a group of young people from another educational center in the municipality with the necessary means to access a 'Classroom' in which the victim was present. On the same day, they entered with a fake account and left demeaning comments, in which they mocked the teacher's sexual orientation, and sent obscene photographs. It wasn't until the day after tomorrow, Tuesday afternoon, when the teachers realized what had happened. In the following days, the management began to carry out the first investigations and requested the technology department to, after preserving the evidence, delete the comments from the platform. Since Thursday, the school's management has met with the students suspected of being the intellectual authors of the homophobic attack, who are in their fourth year of ESO, and with their respective parents.
