The Education Department will contribute €35 million to repay the 2.9% salary debt.

An email and text message have been sent to teachers who are not currently on active duty, asking them to verify and, if necessary, update their bank details.

PalmThe Ministry of Education and Universities will pay approximately €35 million to approximately 19,450 teachers in the form of a 2.9% salary refund, in compliance with the ruling of the High Court of Justice of the Balearic Islands No. 333 of June 27, 2024, following the 2021 resolution against the Governing Council Agreement of May 24, 2021, of the Pact Government. The ruling, which is final, establishes that the freeze on public employees' salaries was not sufficiently justified, taking into account the economic situation of the State and the Balearic Islands at that time.

In order to ensure the correct payment of the corresponding amounts, the General Directorate of Teaching Personnel and State-funded Schools has sent an email and a text message to teachers who are not currently active, so that they can verify and, if necessary, update their bank details. To facilitate this process, the Ministry has set up aspecific web pagewhere this data can be consulted and modified.

The Ministry of Education and Universities will automatically pay 65% of the amount to the affected teachers in September, while the remaining 35% will be paid in February 2026. These amounts correspond to 2.9% of the supplementary remuneration that was left behind. The arrears for the years 2023 and 2024 are being returned.
