PalmThe Na Peñón Primary School in Cala Millor will have more places for children aged 0-3 and a cafeteria service for preschool and primary school students this academic year. The Regional Minister of Education and Universities, Antoni Vera, visited several schools in the eastern part of Mallorca this Monday to learn about the infrastructure improvements that have been made. One of the main new features is the expansion of the first-cycle preschool offering at the Na Penyal Primary School, which, starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, will have 74 places distributed across two classrooms for each age group (babies, 1-2 year-olds, and 2-3 year-olds).

This service, according to a statement from the Regional Ministry, will be offered in a building attached to the school and will be managed directly by the Government. The school, located in Cala Millor, will also offer a school cafeteria service starting this school year, thanks to the temporary facility set up to provide immediate support to families. At the same time, Vera noted, the Balearic Institute of Educational Infrastructure (Ibisec) is finalizing the project that will provide the school with permanent facilities to house the cafeteria.

Interventions in Capdepera

In Capdepera, the regional minister visited the s'Auba Primary School and the closed S'Alzinar Primary School building, where various projects have been implemented to improve its structural and functional conditions. Foundation consolidation work is underway on this building, and the interior renovation will soon be put out to tender, allowing it to reopen for the school for the 2026-2027 school year. Vera also visited the expansion work on the San Miguel de Son Carrió Primary School (Sant Llorenç des Cardassar), which is "progressing at a good pace" and is expected to be operational during the first quarter of the school year. This project, financed through the Insularity Factor fund, will expand the school's capacity to 225 students and provide a total surface area of 1,764 square meters.
