IB3 denounces that the PSOE has vetoed its correspondent in Madrid

The PSIB responded by accusing the journalist of "disrespecting the principles of journalism, publishing false news, and living off lies."

ARA Balears

PalmThe Balearic Islands Public Radio and Television (IB3) denounced the PSOE's veto of its correspondent in Madrid for covering the party's federal committee and warned that it will not accept "political interference." In a statement, the public broadcaster stated that "despite having processed the accreditation within the deadline and in a timely manner, the political party has denied access and the right to report to the IB3 team."

The Balearic Islands' regional public radio and television network regretted this decision and reiterated the News Department's desire to "be able to choose the journalists who will cover the news, without pressure or interference."

The public broadcaster also highlighted the "professionalism" of its Madrid correspondent. For this reason, IB3 expressed surprise when it learned that the Balearic PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party) demanded an explanation from the news department and reported that the Madrid correspondent had opened the regional newscast with live broadcasts in recent weeks that, according to the socialist party, spread "false information."

According to the public entity, IB3's Madrid correspondent, like the rest of the Spanish and regional media, is reporting on all the scandals affecting the PSOE, which have forced the convening of an extraordinary federal committee following the imprisonment of an alleged corruption suspect.

IB3 finally regretted that these vetoes not only affect its Madrid correspondent, but that in the Balearic Islands, questions from certain journalists are also not accepted, and that journalists are not allowed to attend its last conference.

The PSIB responds: "IB3 is accredited, but those who disrespect the principles of journalism are not."

Following the IB3 statement, the PSIB tweeted on social media stating that "IB3 is accredited and is always welcome to any Socialist Party event." However, it clarified that "those who are not accredited are those who disrespect the principles of journalism by publishing fake news and living off lies." "The only censorship and imposition that IB3's great professionals suffer is that of the current general management of the organization," it emphasized.
