MÁS accuses the Government of "worsening" public transport: "When there are no more tourists, there are no more buses"
Lluís Apesteguia regrets that the Executive is "institutionalizing delays" on the train with the new timetable
Palm "When the tourists stop coming, the buses stop running." The spokesperson for MÁS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, criticized the Balearic Government's public transport policies this Monday. In a press conference, he asserted that the train service has "worsened" due to the lack of "any proposals for infrastructure improvements," and also lamented the reduction in service frequency during the off-season. Apesteguia made these statements in light of the new Mallorca Railway Services (SFM) timetables, which came into effect this Monday. According to the eco-sovereignist, the previous timetables were "completely unrealistic" because the condition of the tracks did not allow for the necessary speed to be met, and therefore the current timetables reduce service frequency. In his view, the Government "has stopped deceiving the public." "They have institutionalized the delays that have been hidden until now, and this cannot be the response of a serious government," he said. Furthermore, he lamented the interruption of the semi-direct train service between Sa Pobla and Palma, complaining that citizens will now spend eleven minutes longer on this journey. He also criticized the Minister of Housing, Territory, and Mobility, José Luis Mateo, for "never considering the people of Mallorca when planning public transport," and for neglecting those who finish work at 10 p.m., as there are no buses running after that time. "In the summer, we can't take the buses because they're full of tourists, and in the winter they take them away," he lamented.
