Arrested for assaulting the former mayor of Alcúdia during a robbery at his home
The victim, 95 years old, had to be transferred to the hospital after being attacked during the assault
AlcúdiaThe Alcúdia Local Police have arrested a man accused of breaking into the home of the former mayor of Alcúdia, Mateu Salord, 95, and assaulting him during the robbery. As a consequence of the attack, Salord had to be taken to the hospital.
The events took place on Monday afternoon. It was the victim himself who alerted the emergency services after suffering the assault while he was at his home. Following the alert, the Alcúdia Local Police and the Civil Guard activated a joint search operation that allowed them to locate and arrest the alleged perpetrator shortly after the events.
The arrested person is being investigated, initially, for an alleged crime of robbery with force in a dwelling and a crime of assault, without prejudice to other possible crimes that may arise from the investigation. Once the initial proceedings are completed, he will be placed at the disposal of the Civil Guard, who have taken charge of the investigation.
