According to the complaint published on social networks, the victim, Miquel Gili Ferrer, allegedly received a beating while the aggressors insulted him for his sexual orientation. The assault has already been reported and is in the hands of justice.

Following the events, the Lloret de Vistalegre City Council has publicly expressed its support for the victim. In a statement published on social networks, the council has described the assault as “lamentable” and has “rotundly condemned any type of violence, especially that which is accompanied by hate speech for reasons of sexual condition, race, origin, or any other personal circumstance”.

From the same city council they have also defended that these attitudes “should not have a place in our society, which must be based on respect and coexistence”, and have expressed the wish that law enforcement and justice can clarify the facts as soon as possible.

The aggression has caused concern among merchants and customers of the market, since both the victim and the alleged aggressors would continue working in the same space. The vendor, well known in the market, would have suffered physical injuries and also a strong emotional impact.

On the other hand, a solidarity gathering has been called to show support for the victim and condemn the aggression. The mobilization is scheduled for this Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the same market.
