PalmaA 55-year-old driver has been placed under investigation for an alleged crime against road safety after causing a head-on collision on the Cam铆 de Can Palou, in Palma, while driving under the influence of alcohol. A woman and her two young children were traveling in the other vehicle and were transferred to a private clinic after the accident.
The incident occurred on October 3rd, around 9:15 PM. The woman was driving in the direction of Pont d'Inca when she encountered another vehicle head-on traveling in her same lane. According to the reconstruction carried out by the Local Police, the other driver was traveling on the left side of the road because he believed he was on a one-way street.
The proximity between the two vehicles made any maneuver to avoid the impact impossible, and both collided head-on. The driver was the one who alerted the emergency services and explained that smoke was coming from the engine of one of the cars and that she was traveling with her two children.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they detected clear signs of alcohol consumption in the other driver. The breathalyzer test gave a result of 0.75 milligrams per liter of exhaled air, three times above the administrative limit and above the criminal threshold. The woman, on the other hand, tested at 0.0.
She and the two minors were taken by ambulance to a private clinic to be evaluated. The man was placed under investigation, but not arrested, and the proceedings have been sent to the duty court.
