PalmNegotiations between the PP and the PSIB (Socialist Party) to agree on an increase in the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) continue. After the Socialists submitted a proposal for a tax increase similar to the one proposed by the government as part of the tourism decree (which fell through due to lack of support from Vox), the PP has now submitted its own proposal and has announced that it will submit transactions to the PSIB's proposal.

PP spokesperson Sebastià Sagreras welcomed the "PSIB" for having "changed its mind" regarding the ITS (tax in transit) and now aligning itself with the government's proposals. However, he criticized the Socialists' proposal for not including proposals previously made by the government to eliminate the ITS (tax in transit) during the low season or exempt Balearic citizens from paying the tax.

For his part, PSIB spokesperson Iago Negueruela said he was willing to negotiate with the PP so that they "are comfortable," insisting that his proposal closely resembles the one put forward six months ago by President Marga Prohens. The party also proposed a tax on rental vehicles, which he claims is a carbon copy of the PowerPoint presentation by the government. "We'll have to see if there's a real will to do it (raising the ITS and taxing rental cars) or if there are excuses for why it won't happen in the end," Negueruela continued.

After Prohens proposed taking these initiatives to the Social Dialogue Roundtable of the Sustainability Pact, the Socialist Party member expressed his willingness to do so. "We'll see who says it won't be done and, if there's a blockage, what the PP wants to do," he added. "Of all the reforms this term, which are many decree laws, nothing has passed through the Roundtable," he recalled.
