PalmThe Balearic Islands Health Minister, Manuela García, deflected responsibility on Tuesday regarding the situation at the Matadero health center. After staff at the center complained that they have to work in "deplorable and unsanitary" conditions, the head of the department blamed the previous government. "Do you know when the Escorador Urgent Care Center (PAC) was supposed to open? In 2018, four years have passed," she said in response to the spokesperson for the PSIB (Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands), Iago Negueruela.

"Do you know what the investment was for the Matadero Primary Care Center in 2018?" she continued. "Nine million euros. And what is it now? 28 million euros, and we'll be laying the first stone." García responded with these words after Negueruela accused her of making a "disaster" of the project. The councilor also defended the purchase of 246 ambulances, some of which have required modifications to be operational, and insisted that the necessary adaptations to the vehicles will not cost citizens "a single euro," but are merely "minor, one-off modifications." She also asserted that the Government "inherited a crisis of healthcare neglect" and that its priority is "to strengthen human resources and improve healthcare throughout the Islands."
