The Parliament censures the president of Aena for the 'Malle' sign at the airport

The company responsible for the advertisement announced that it would withdraw the advertisement

PalmaThe Government and most of the islands' parties have once again attacked Aena's management of the airport. The plenary session of the Parliament unanimously opposed this Tuesday the advertising campaign of 'Malle' by a German financial group. Furthermore, with the PSIB voting against it, it has censured both the Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, and the president of Aena, Maurici Lucena, both for inaction in removing this advertisement and for promoting airport policies against the interests of the citizens of the islands, including the expansion of Ibiza airport.

The groups have voted on a non-legislative proposal driven by the PP against the expansion project of Ibiza airport, to which the same group, with amendments, has also ended up introducing the issue of an advertising campaign that consisted of a large poster at the airport with the message in German: "What happens in Mallorca stays in Mallorca". The financial group that paid for the poster has announced its withdrawal after the controversy it has generated. The parliamentary initiative has had the support of all groups regarding advertising and all groups except Vox regarding the airport expansion. On the other hand, both the PP and Mès per Mallorca have introduced a point in the text to reprimand both Lucena and Puente, which has prospered with the only vote against from the socialists.

The PP deputy and vice-president of the Consell d'Eivissa, Vicent Marí, has insisted that, although his party is not against improving the airport infrastructure in Ibiza, "one thing is to improve safety and quality and another very different thing, to promote measures that translate into more capacity, more passengers and more pressure on the territory". He also regretted that the Balearic institutions do not participate in decisions about the airport, which are made by Aena and the Spanish government.
