The worker who fell from a roof while working in Valldemossa dies

ValldemossaThe worker who last Tuesday was critically injured after falling about four meters while repairing a roof in Valldemossa has died at the Son Espases University Hospital, where he had been admitted since the accident.

The Ministry of Labor, Public Function, and Social Dialogue confirmed the worker's death this Sunday and extended its condolences to his family and friends. Minister Catalina Cabrer also expressed support for the relatives and assured that the Balearic Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (Ibassal) will collaborate in the investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.

The work accident occurred on Tuesday at 4:23 p.m. in the municipal maintenance brigade's shed in Valldemossa. According to the initial investigations by the Civil Guard, the worker, of Bolivian nationality and around 40 years old, was repairing tiles when a part of the roof gave way and he fell inside the building from an approximate height of four meters.

A colleague immediately alerted the emergency services. When the 061 paramedics arrived, the worker was in cardiorespiratory arrest. After about ten minutes of resuscitation maneuvers, the medical teams managed to stabilize him and transferred him in critical condition to Son Espases, where he finally died days later.
