MORE (cement) in Manacor

It is still a draft bill, and knowing the PP's track record, we cannot count our chickens before they hatch. However, the agrarian draft bill that ARA Balears is reporting on these days includes an initial restriction on building villas on rustic land. A restriction that will have no impact on Menorca because they are already playing in a different league and did their homework twenty years ago regarding rustic land. But for the rest, it is fine by us that some obstacle, however small and lukewarm, is placed on building massive villas on rustic land.

It is significant that the party with the worst reputation in urban planning matters has to take another step, while the left, which is full of talk about environmentalism, turns out to be a constant disappointment when it governs. And we are not even talking about the terrible eight years of the Pact where, except for some reclassifications, not a comma of the cementing model was touched. Now we are talking about where they currently govern.

And one of the saddest cases is Manacor. After seven years at the head of the mayor's office and with records of villas in the countryside, Miquel Oliver has been unable to fight for what his party's program called for: increasing the minimum plot size or, even, making rustic land non-buildable. And it is no excuse to say that the PSIB, with whom he governs, does not let you. The fact is that there is not even a debate on this issue within the MÉS-Esquerra coalition, which could be renamed as MÉS cement in Manacor.

These days it has become known that a group of residents of Cala Mendia have had to get to work to prevent what seems impossible in the 21st century: a new tourist complex on the seafront. There are always options to stop atrocities, if the ruler puts their mind to it. The one from Manacor, who will be a candidate for Mallorca, has other priorities.
