Pay attention to what really matters

That one has a weekly "intervention" where drawings from Santa Antonio coexist with traditional photographs and graphics. The authors are children and young people from the Amadip-Esment Art Workshop. This is one of the countless initiatives of this Foundation which, for those who don't know, serves around 2,500 people annually, many of them with intellectual disabilities.

This organization is a national and international leader in the management of comprehensive projects for people with disabilities and their families. They train, support, prepare, and, above all, provide professional employment for hundreds of young people who, without Amadip, would have great difficulty integrating into the workforce. And not only that, but they do so with such a high degree of professionalism and quality that their restaurants and gardening services meet the highest standards, as attested by thousands of clients every year.

We're not talking about a small organization, but one of the largest in Spain, with nearly 1,000 employees and an impressive business volume. This work demonstrates that real opportunities can be created for people facing difficulties, breaking down social exclusion and preventing the stigmatization of these individuals and their families.

The key was a team of visionaries, mostly parents, who understood that only with commitment and professionalism would this model be viable. And they have succeeded. This is yet another example that in the Balearic Islands, despite the traditional self-loathing that makes us think we can only rent out our godmother's apartment to foreigners, we are capable of creating a real, productive, and, in this case, inclusive economy. It's not charity. It's social economy. Hats off!.
