Accuse the Council of Mallorca of "outsourcing" the organization of Lluc a Peu from the Part Forana
The PSIB assures that the tasks that traditionally were assumed by the Old Bluebirds and volunteers have now been awarded to private companies
PalmaThe socialist group on the Consell de Mallorca has accused the island institution this Friday of having outsourced the organization of Lluc a Peu de la Part Forana, tasks that were traditionally carried out by the Antics Blavets and volunteers who participated in the ascent.
Socialist councilor Joan Méndez has criticized that the Consell "promotes the commodification and private profit" of an activity that, he argues, has a strong popular and traditional component. "It completely distorts the meaning of the Pujada a Lluc," he stated.
Méndez has regretted that what for years was done by the Antics Blavets de Lluc and volunteers "has now become a business for private companies." He has also questioned that the traditional mides, the colored ribbons given to participants, have been included in the lots awarded to a company and has demanded public explanations from the Consell.
Problems with the buses
The socialists have also focused on the logistics of the day. According to Méndez, the town councils of the Part Forana are in a "limit situation" due to the difficulty of hiring buses during the peak tourist season.
The councilor considers that the lack of foresight from the Council has aggravated the problem and has warned that one cannot "delegate all responsibility to a company" nor trust that "people can magically go up to Lluc".
Therefore, the PSIB demands that the Council assume the organizational function of the initiative and guarantee both safety and control of the route.
The socialist group has asked the island institution to "immediately" activate all pending procedures, recover the "effective" direction of the event, and stop loading town councils with responsibilities that, according to the socialists, do not correspond to them.
