Apesteguia and Maria Ramon want to lead MÉS per Mallorca for the 2027 elections
The coordinator of MÉS per Mallorca and the ecosovereignist deputy are committed to a party "capable of going out to win" and defend brave measures in housing, tourism, language, and sovereignty
PalmThe coordinator of MÉS per Mallorca, Lluís Apesteguia, and the deputy Maria Ramon announced this Saturday their candidacy for the primaries of the eco-sovereigntist party to lead the list in the 2027 regional elections. They did so with a call to strengthen the party's political project and with the intention of placing it in a position to contest political leadership in the Balearic Islands.
Through a message shared on social media, Apesteguia stated that the candidacy is born with "renewed emotion" and with the experience gained during the last three years of parliamentary work. "We are eager to go much further than we have come so far," he affirmed, while defending that MÉS per Mallorca is a "capable of going out to win" political force.
The two leaders claim a "fully autonomous" party with the aim of leading a "profound change" that transcends institutions. As they explained, the objective is to promote transformations that affect society, the economy, and the daily lives of citizens, with the desire that "the people who live in Mallorca can live better".
In their statement, Apesteguia and Ramon also defended a MÉS per Mallorca that is "humble, useful, and at the service of the people," capable of imagining alternatives and making them a reality, but aware of the challenges that still lie ahead. "We have much to do and we will have to do it better than ever," they remarked.
Among the priorities they propose for the coming years are access to housing, the transformation of the economic model, and the defense of the Catalan language. In this regard, they advocate for the promotion of "new and brave" measures that guarantee decent housing for everyone, moving towards a reduction in tourism, and strengthening economic sectors alternative to the tourism monoculture.
The candidacy also places among its objectives the recovery of the social use of Catalan, democratic deepening, and the improvement of citizen confidence in politics and institutions.
The two parliamentarians also advocated for the "full national emancipation of Mallorca" as a tool they consider essential to guarantee social justice, equality, and a sustainable future for the island.
Finally, they called on the membership to support them in the primary process by providing the necessary endorsements, and invited new people to join the eco-sovereigntist project. "Projects that are worthwhile are always conjugated in the plural," they pointed out.
In a political context described as marked by "noise", hate speech, and disaffection, Apesteguia and Ramon have advocated for the need to maintain hope and enthusiasm as drivers of political action. "We must be able to dream. We deserve hope," they concluded.
