PalmaThe deputy of MÉS per Mallorca Ferran Rosa read this Monday night the harsh letter he received from the mayor of Esporles, Josep Ferrà. In the text, the former leader forcefully criticizes his criticisms of the party and especially the leadership of MÉS per Mallorca and the parliamentary group during the legislatures of the Pacte de Progrés. Rosa has refused to respond to the content of the letter. However, in statements to ARA Balears, he insisted that, although he did not intend to offend anyone, self-criticism is necessary. "We must focus on questioning ourselves why, in a context where 80% of Majorcans are in favor of MÉS's approaches such as tourist degrowth, affordable rental prices and language repair, there are people who do not vote or who vote for other parties," he explains.

"The social moment we have as a country is evident in many aspects: we must aim to be credible as a party and as a project, and from there came my words: it was not a matter of individuals," he said about the interview he gave in the "podcast Nap time, which has sparked controversy. Among other issues, Rosa stated that Francina Armengol's Government was "afraid" to bet on tourist degrowth, and MÉS per Mallorca "did not push hard enough". She also criticized the previous leadership of the party and the parliamentary group, as well as the management of former Consell president Miquel Ensenyat, and considered that "the PP is the one that has best understood why the left lost the 2019 elections.

Although Rosa also said that during the Pact "very good regulations were made" and recalled the work to reverse the "deregulatory" policies of José Ramón Bauzá, her strong criticism towards MÉS per Mallorca has generated an internal earthquake. In the nine-page letter to which ARA Balears has had access, Ferrà reproaches her for having done them "with a certain arrogance and relaxed on a sofa, and with an absence of coherent self-criticism from someone who held positions in the PSIB and Podem ministries at the end of the 2015-2019 Pact and throughout the 2019-2023 Pact". "This is not self-criticism, Ferran; it is a disqualification, and I think it is unfair and misguided," criticized the former leader of MÉS, who reproaches him for having said that the left did not do enough for tourist decline in its last term (2019-2023): "With covid, was it the time for the people of Mallorca to worry about tourism? (...). Only an accommodated political official could think of that".
