The City Council unanimously recognizes the career of the teacher and activist, involved in local associations, Civil Protection and community communication
MontuïriLast night, the Montuïri Town Council unanimously approved awarding the honorary title of Mayor of Puig 2026 to Maria Antònia Rigo Gallard for her career and contribution to the educational, social, civic, and cultural improvement of the municipality. Maria Antònia Rigo is a teacher with a renowned passion for teaching and the pursuit of new pedagogical approaches in schools. She has been the principal of the CEIP Climent Serra i Servera school in Porreres, where she currently teaches. However, her impact on Montuïri extends far beyond the classroom: the official document highlights her "unparalleled dedication and commitment to numerous local associations." This award, traditionally presented by the Town Council on behalf of all citizens, recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the betterment of the municipality throughout their lives.
Within the social fabric of the town, Rigo is currently a board member of the Montuireras Women's Association and has been involved with organizations such as the Mont-Lliri Choir and the Civil Protection volunteer group in its early days.
